Manufacturing company opens new $15 million facility in Wood Dale

A company that designs and manufactures packaging equipment has opened a new $15 million facility in Wood Dale.

The company - nVenia - opened the 256,000-square-foot manufacturing facility last Friday at 750 North Wood Dale Road, near Wood Dale Junior High School.

"We appreciate the community's support as we open our headquarters in Wood Dale," said Thurman Melson, nVenia's president.

Melson said Wood Dale was an ideal location for the facility because of the city's proximity to O'Hare International Airport.

He said the facility is expected to create 200 jobs and mostly hire people from the Chicagoland area. He said having "good jobs" based in the United States was a big priority for the company.

"It's something that our customers value in the U.S.," Melson said. "It's something that we value as a business, and it's something that we hope to continue to develop."

Workers in product management, marketing, financial and engineering positions at the facility will be paid $80,000 to $100,000 a year. Manufacturing jobs at the facility will pay hourly salaries ranging from $20 to $30 an hour.

The company is working with trade schools to bring young workers into the fold for internships and full-time employment.

Melson said nVenia looks forward to continued growth in Wood Dale and "a continued partnership with the community we now call home."

The company plans to sponsor a baseball team in Wood Dale, support local animal shelters, and sponsor scholarships for women in manufacturing.
