Sustainable shoe and apparel brand opens Oak Brook store

OAK BROOK - Allbirds, a sustainable shoe and apparel brand, opened a new retail store in Oak Brook Tuesday.

The store, at 100 Oakbrook Center, is the brand's second store in the Chicago area and 33rd globally, with locations across North America, Asia and Europe.

The new 2,892-square-foot space speaks to the brands' sustainable focus, which has driven its development and use of natural materials in replacement of petroleum-based synthetic fibers. Displays around the shop call attention to the Merino wool, sugar cane and other materials from which its products are made.

Customers can see the carbon footprint of each product clearly displayed - a first for the fashion and footwear industry, the company said.
