So you wanna be a 'home manager'?

A home manager job is ideal for people who like the nomadic lifestyle, own nice furniture and need temporary housing, possibly because they're relocating or building a new home.

"Most are in it for the adventure," said Mike Callahan, owner of Showhomes Fox Valley.

They must be able to furnish the house with their furniture and pay a monthly fee to be in the program. The fee varies depending on the home and the situation. Callahan described it as "50 to 60 percent discount off what traditional rent would be."

Background and credit checks are required and no pets or smokers are allowed.

Home managers are responsible for cleaning and paying for utilities and Wi-Fi, though the homeowner pays for landscaping and home maintenance, said Callahan, who has applications at showhomesfoxvalley.com.
