District 211 puts 62 acres on market for residential development

Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 is soliciting buyers for an undeveloped 62-acre site it's owned for decades in a Schaumburg neighborhood after the school board voted last week to sell the property.

The land is zoned residential and located north of Wise Road between Plum Grove Road and Summit Drive. The board commissioned a civil engineering report that determined approximately 40 acres are buildable.

The land will be sold with a minimum acceptable price of $17 million. The district will accept bids Jan. 8 to 2 p.m. Feb. 20.

District 211 bought about two-thirds of the site for a potential new school in 1966, with the last 20 acres purchased in 1971. Though the district received village approval to build on the site in 1974, it never needed an additional school.

Village officials have long considered the site appropriate for single-family homes.
