Gas station taking over restaurant site in Buffalo Grove

Some locations are better suited for gas stations than restaurants, and that seems to be the case for 185 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Buffalo Grove, where the Wooil Restaurant is closing to make way for a Shell station.

True North Energy LLC has a contract to purchase the restaurant, which will be demolished to make way for the new, 24-hour gas station and convenience store. The property, which was annexed by the village in 2004, will include up to 12 pumps.

True North is estimating that, based on the village's share of the Lake County sales tax and the home rule sales tax, Buffalo Grove's annual revenue will be $125,000 to $150,000 after two years.

The station would plug a supply gap in the area for gasoline - the closest location south is a Gas Depot 5.5 miles away, while to the north the only competition until you get to Lincolnshire is from a Speedway.
