Poke bowls coming to Buffalo Grove mall

Long-vacant space soon will be taken over by a restaurant serving Native Hawaiian cuisine in a Buffalo Grove shopping center on the southwest corner of Arlington Heights and Dundee roads.

Poke Hale is preparing to move into the space once occupied by Moe's Southwestern Grill fronting Dundee, between Starbucks and Noodles & Company. Its "Coming Soon" banner touts salads, poke bowls and sushi burritos.

Considered authentic Hawaiian food, poke is diced raw fish. Poke bowls typically come with the fish, rice and toppings.

Elsewhere in the Grove's Edge mall, Tomatillo Taco-Ville recently opened in space previously occupied by Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches. The first Tomatillo opened on Irving Park Road in Chicago in 2018.

For those looking to burn calories, Anytime Fitness is another newcomer at the spruced-up mall formerly known as Plaza Verde West.
