Elk Grove-sponsored Bahamas Bowl set for Dec. 20

The date has been set for the 2019 Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl sponsored by Elk Grove Village: Friday, Dec. 20.

The village board agreed in February to renew the town's sponsorship of the college football bowl game in Nassau, Bahamas, for another year at the same $300,000 sponsorship fee. The game, which uses Elk Grove's business marketing tagline "Makers Wanted," will feature teams from Conference USA and the Mid-American Conference.

It again will be played the Friday before Christmas, but with a slightly later kickoff time: 1 p.m. Central Standard Time.

The game is played at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium and will be aired on ESPN, whose ESPN Events division operates the Bahamas Bowl and 14 other postseason bowl games.
