NorthShore offers genome test

NorthShore University HealthSystem's DNA-10K, a complimentary whole genome sequencing test, is available to new and existing NorthShore patients as part of a 10,000-patient pilot in collaboration with Color, a leading genetics and health technology service.

The testing is available at multiple NorthShore locations, including the new Round Lake Beach site at 1000 E. Rollins Road.

A simple blood test can help patients learn about their genetic makeup, including risk factors for certain hereditary cancers, cardiovascular diseases and pharmacogenomics. The results, which can help doctors develop individualized screening and care plans, are delivered in four weeks to the physician for consultation with the patient.

Eligible NorthShore patients can opt-in to the pilot program at their primary care visit. For more information, call (847) 570-4363 for information.
