Third hotel proposed for Lincolnshire office park

A 113-room, extended-stay hotel has been proposed for a Lincolnshire office park.

Plans call for a four-story Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel at 350 Knightsbridge Parkway, in the Lincolnshire Corporate Center.

If built, the hotel will be the third in the corporate center. Marriott Spring Hill Suites and Staybridge Suites Hotel already operate in the complex.

Six hotels offering 1,100 rooms operate villagewide, said Ben Gilbertson, Lincolnshire's assistant village manager.

The proposed Home2 hotel would primarily attract guests on business trips, Gilbertson said.

"The corporate presence in Lincolnshire and throughout Lake County is a major draw for hoteliers," Gilbertson said.

Lincolnshire's many restaurants and entertainment venues make it popular with the hotel industry, too, he said.

The roughly 2-acre parcel being eyed for the hotel is the site of a baseball field that was built for corporate league games but hasn't been used in many years, Gilbertson said.

Operating as Knight Bridge Pky, developers Vaibhav Sevale and Kamlesh Patel bought the land in November for about $1.2 million, Gilbertson said.

The developers need a special-use permit to build the hotel in the office center. They're also requesting exemptions from village rules governing building height, wall signs and parking.

The developers and village board members discussed the proposal during a committee-of-the-whole meeting Monday night.

Sevale and Patel have revised their initial plans based on feedback at public hearings, Hilton corporate requirements and other factors, Gilbertson said.

Mayor Elizabeth Brandt said the current proposal "has a lot of nice changes." No final decisions were made Monday, but no trustees objected to the plans.

The proposed landscaping needs approval from Lake County's Stormwater Management Commission.

The village board could be asked to approve the overall plans as soon as Aug. 26.
