Mobile COVID-19 testing starting Monday in Kane County

A mobile unit managed by the Illinois Department of Public Health will provide free COVID-19 testing starting Monday in Aurora, Carpentersville, Elgin, Geneva and St. Charles, the Kane County Department of Public Health announced.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the locations are drive-through, unless noted differently:

● Monday at the Kane County Regional Office of Education, 28 N 1st St., Geneva. This is a walk-up site so people will have to use street parking or public parking lots.

● Tuesday and Wednesday at Kimball Middle School, 451 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin.

● Thursday at Dundee Crown High School, 1500 Kings Road, Carpentersville.

● Friday at Illinois Youth Center, 4450 Route 38, Saint Charles. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

● Saturday, Aug. 1, at Phillips Park, Ray Moses Drive, Aurora.

● Sunday, Aug. 2, at Dundee Crown High School, 1500 Kings Road, Carpentersville.

People are encouraged to get tested if they have been exposed to a potential or confirmed COVID-19 case, even if they are not experiencing symptoms. People need to provide their name and phone number, along with a driver's license or other form of photo ID.

The testing will consist of a nasal swab and wait times might be long. People can expect to receive test results in three to seven days, officials said.
