Mundelein officials this week released a video that's the latest element of their marketing campaign for local businesses.
Starting with a title card that reads "Made for You, Mundelein," the roughly 90-second video features activity in local restaurants, stores and factories. The Mundelein mural at 18 E. Park St. appears prominently, too.
The video will be shown on social media and various websites as part of the "Made In Mundelein. Made For You" campaign.
"We really wanted something that had some bite to it and really made a difference," Mayor Steve Lentz said before the video's debut during Monday's village board meeting.
The marketing campaign launched in late 2020, months into the COVID-19 pandemic and the recession it brought.
"Throughout the country, businesses are hurting and in dire need of assistance," Lentz said in a news release. "We knew we had to do whatever we could to help."
The campaign showcases Mundelein as a place where things -- whether meals, artwork, fashion items or other items -- are created.
"We intend this to be a catalyst that brings the community together and creates a sense of pride in the goods and services that are made here," Lentz said. "It's really a celebration of the hands and hearts that make Mundelein the unique community we have all grown to love."
Participating businesses can add a blue digital banner reading "Made for You, Mundelein" in English or Spanish to their social media accounts or websites.
A print advertising campaign, signs and other communications are planned, officials said.
Any business operating within the village limits can participate. Debbie's Floral, Park Street Restaurant, Corner Health Foods and Maya's Restaurant are among those that have signed up so far.
The effort is expected to run through March 2022.
