Technology the center of Dist. 116 showcase
Round Lake Area School District 116 held its first 1:Wonder Showcase Tuesday night at Round Lake High School.
"I'm very pleased, we've had a great turnout, said Cariee Gibson Instructional Technology Specialist at Dist. 116.
Thirty-eight teachers and 170 students demonstrated to parents and members of the community how technology is transforming instruction within the classroom through their 1:1 pilot initiative.
The 1:1 initiative allows students the ability to access educational content through their own laptop or device.
"The goal is to improve the four C's which are Critical thinking, Creativity, Communication and Collaboration,' Gibson said.
All the students created digital portfolios and added artifacts to them throughout the school year in preparation for the event.
"I think what we are doing in the district is fantastic. To have more kids be able to have access to technology and be able to use it in a 1:1 way is really good for our kiddos," said District 116 school board member Kevin Daniels.
