ALGONQUIN -- Hanson Material Service Company and it's mine in Algonquin received numerous awards and recognition at the Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers' Annual convention in Springfield.
The Algonquin Sand & Gravel mine achieved a Community Relations award for efforts undertaken by the company and its employees to demonstrate corporate citizenship and support community groups near this site. The mine also received a Gold level Rock Solid Safety award.
A company and its employees must meet specific health and safety criteria that go beyond federal Mine Safety and Health Administration requirements to qualify for four levels of awards.
