McDonald's plans to tear down Des Plaines replica restaurant

For years, the golden arches and neon "Speedee" road sign at 400 Lee St. in Des Plaines have served as a roadside attraction and reminder of the suburban roots of what's become the world's largest hamburger chain. But as early as next month, the 32-year-old replica of McDonald's first franchised restaurant will be demolished, company officials confirmed Monday. Full story here.

Comedian from Northbrook reprises role of Baymax

He didn't know it, but when comedian and Northbrook native Scott Adsit did a one-night performance of his comedy show "Celebrity Autobiography" in Los Angeles, Disney casting executives were in the audience. That led to a job as the voice of Baymax -- the star caregiver robot in Disney's "Big Hero 6" -- and now Adsit is reprising the role in "Baymax Returns," part of a new TV show called "Big Hero 6 The Series."
